At National Geographic Learning, part of Cengage, we believe that when students explore the world, they expand their minds. That’s why we launched the Meet a National Geographic Explorer contest—to celebrate educators who are making global learning a reality in their classrooms.
We’re thrilled to announce our Grand Prize Winner: Livia Gama Fagundes, P.S. 86Q, District 28, Queens, NY! Livia’s class will receive a live virtual presentation from Malaika Vaz, a National Geographic Explorer, filmmaker, and environmental advocate.
Malaika will share her journey as a storyteller and conservationist, helping students see how geography, science, and global citizenship come together in powerful ways. Malaika is the CEO of Untamed Planet, a production company behind award-winning films for National Geographic, BBC, and PBS. She’s been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and serves on global environmental councils, including the Earthshot Prize and the UN Environment Programme.
