Associate Dean and Professor of Science Education in the College of Education, Oregon State University

Dr. Randy Bell began his career as a forest researcher in the Pacific Northwest. His science background includes a BS in Botany from Marshall University and a MS in Forest Ecology from Duke University. His interest in sharing science with others led him to pursue a teaching license, and he taught science for six years in Lakewood, Oregon where he was recognized as the Oregon Science Teachers Association’s “New Science Teacher of the Year.”

Currently, Dr. Bell teaches pre-service teachers, provides professional development for practicing teachers, and researches and develops curricular materials. Randy’s two primary areas of research include teaching and learning about the nature of scientific knowledge, and assessing the impact of educational technology on science teaching and learning.
